Dual Enrollment Occupational/Technical Programs
Dual Enrollment Occupational/Technical Programs
The Region 2000 Tech Prep Consortium supports and promotes dual enrollment
in a wide variety of Career Technical Education programs. Dual enrollment
agreements are a type of articulation agreement that provide students with
both high school and college credits at the completion of the high school
class. Over the last year, students in the region have received dual
enrollment in the following career paths:
Examples of some of these programs can be seen below:
Additional information on dual enrollment in career technical programs is
available from district high school guidance centers, the Counseling
Center at CVCC or the Tech Prep Office.
On-Campus Dual Enrollment
Each academic year, CVCC offers dual enrollment programs in welding,
machine tool and HVAC on the CVCC campus. These programs are open to a
limited number of high school seniors.
Dual enrollment students in these programs attend classes at CVCC Monday
through Friday from 7:30 until 10:00 a.m. on the same academic calendar as
regularly enrolled CVCC students. The schools districts offer bus
transportation from the high schools to CVCC. The program covers a full
academic year. Students who successfully complete the two-semester sequence
earn up to eighteen hours of college credit. In addition to taking a
sequence of technical courses all students must take Applied Technical
Mathematics I & II (MTH 103 - 104), or a higher order of difficulty,
two-semester mathematics sequence. The Applied Technical Mathematics
sequence is not required of students dually enrolled in CISCO Networking
or Emergency Medical Technician course work.
To be eligible to participate, a student must be a rising senior, have his
or her principal's written permission to attend CVCC, apply for admissions
to CVCC and pass the mathematics portion of the COMPASS placement test with
a score that permits enrolling in Applied Technical Mathematics I (MTH 103).
