Where applicable, participating instructors of Basic
Technical, Engineering and Architectural Drawing or Architectural and
Machine Drafting at the secondary and postsecondary levels will use
the competencies and task lists developed by the Virginia Department of
Education and posted on the Career and Technical Education Resource
Center website http://www.cteresource.org
as the basis for instruction.
Based on the course equivalencies listed below, students
will be allowed to enroll in DRF 112 (Technical Drawing II) and/or ARC
212 (Architectural Drafting II) at CVCC provided ninety percent of the
competencies listed on the Student Competency Record are completed with a
rating of 1 or 2.
Secondary instructors will use the Student Competency
Record developed by the Virginia Department of Education and posted on
the Career and Technical Education Resource Center web site for students
who expect to enroll in the CVCC Engineering Technology Program.
Secondary instructors will ensure the articulated class competency
records become part of the student's official permanent record.
Students completing DRF 112 and/or ARC 212 with a
minimum grade of "C" shall be awarded credit by previous completion for
DRF 111 (3 credit hours) and/or ARC 211 (3 credit hours).
To be eligible to receive college credit, a student must
have a “C” average or better for all drafting classes and a GPA of 2.00
or better in all subjects taken at the secondary level.
The student must meet all admissions requirements and be
officially enrolled at CVCC to be eligible for credit via articulation.
The student must initiate a certificate program plan with
a CVCC counselor at the time of enrollment.
The Division Chair or his/her faculty designee will be
responsible for evaluating the official high school transcript and
competency profile record and recommending college credit to the
Admissions and Records Office at CVCC based on the stated conditions in
the applicable Articulation Agreement.
Enrollment at CVCC must occur within one year after
graduation from an area high school. For those students who have
graduated for periods exceeding one year, permission must be obtained
from the Division Chair or his/her designee.
The competencies will be reviewed annually by a committee
of secondary and post secondary instructors for currency and completeness.
Recommended changes at the secondary level will be referred to the Career
and Technical Education Resource Center. Recommended changes at the post
secondary level will be referred to the appropriate CVCC Curriculum
Advisory Committee.
