Hiring Assistance for Businesses
The Workforce Solutions and Community Education Department of CVCC has programs and services to assist businesses in Region 2000. Career Connections and the Region 2000 Workforce Center partners with the Region 2000 WIB and other partner agencies to assist with the delivery of business services. This partnership provides a variety of services to help you with meeting your workforce and human resource needs. Our goal is to connect employers to employees, saving you time as an employer and reducing your costs in the hiring cycle.
Services to you are many:
- Job registration and pre—employment screening
You may post job vacancies at one of our conveniently located Virginia Workforce Centers
including the Region 2000 Workforce Center and work directly with one of our Business
Service Representatives who will assist you to get a pool of qualified applicants.
Career Connections, located on the campus of Central Virginia Community
College, offers employers the option to register and post positions on NACElink.
NACElink allows employers to reach a wide audience of students and alumni. For more
information about this service, contact Teresa Laughlin at 434—832—7620.
- Assessment and Pre—Screening Services
Our Workforce Solutions staff including the Region 2000 Workforce Center will assist you
in setting up any needed assessments to pre—qualify candidates on math, reading and
locating information skills. This assessment is entitled Work Keys and will lead to a
credential for the candidate demonstrating that he/she met a level of Work Readiness
status. The Workforce Center can review job descriptions to identify skills needed for
the specific job and refer candidates that match or may be ideal candidates for an On
The Job Training program.
- Target Recruitment Events
The days of the traditional job fair are gone. Let our Business Service Representatives
coordinate an employer— or industry—specific job fair for you. This is a more efficient,
cost effective way to hire several individuals at one time.
Career Connections staff can assist you in recruiting students and
alumni in a variety of career fields. To arrange a job fair on the CVCC campus, call
Teresa Laughlin at 434—832—7620.
- Adult Internships or Work Experience
This program provides opportunities for you to get to know a potential employee and for
the potential employee to learn more about your industry. The Region 2000 Workforce
Center may be able to recommend candidates for a limited Work Experience at your
company. These candidates will learn the specific job that you may have openings for in
the future. Limited stipends may be available depending on the federal dollars available
to the region for such services.
- Resource Lab
Our Region 2000 Virginia Workforce Center is equipped with a resource lab consisting of
