Finding a career that will really satisfy you on a lot of different levels involves more than a matter of throwing a dart at a list. You need to understand your interests/preferences, your abilities, and how jobs match your values to choose a career you can be passionate about.
While no career exploration package can tell you with absolute certainty that a specific career is the path you should take, the DISCOVER program can help you begin to sort through your options focus on the careers most likely to satisfy you financially and personally.
- DISCOVER – a
comprehensive career exploration program for CVCC students that allows you to assess your
interests, ability level, and values in relation to potential occupations and majors. You will

- Jung-Myers-Briggs Typology –
Personality Sorter the Keirsey is based on. There are 16 basic types. The site contains links
to some famous people for each type.
- PersonalityType.com – authors
of four best selling books about Personality Type -- understand yourself and others as never before.
- The Official Keirsey Website – Take
the Keirsey Temperament Sorter Test (based on MBTI). The site includes an explanation of types. More
descriptions of types can be found at the TypeLogic site.
- Princeton Review – Good
resources for a wide range of educational opportunities. Free 24 question self-assessment quiz to help you
identify interests and work style.
- Occupational Outlook Handbook – A
nationally recognized source of career information, designed to provide valuable assistance to individuals making
decisions about their future work lives. Revised every two years, the Handbook describes what workers do on the
job, working conditions, the training and education needed, earnings, and expected job prospects in a wide range
of occupations.
