Special Enrollment Options
CVCC has a number of special enrollment options, some of which require different
or additional admissions procedures. Please refer to the information and links
below if you fall into any of these categories.
Selective admission programs
Certain health programs have special admission requirements. Consult the college
catalog or contact the Counseling Center for information about programs of
interest to you. Some programs with special admissions requirements include:
Respiratory Therapy, Radiologic Technology, and Medical Laboratory Technology.
High school/on-campus dual enrollment
You may take college level transfer and occupational/technical classes while you
are still in high school through our dual enrollment option. To take on-campus
dual enrollment, you must have permission from your high school principal.
Contact your high school guidance office for more information. You may also call
the CVCC Counseling Center at 434.832.7800.
Distance education students
Distance education students complete the regular admissions forms. Special
support services are available to distance education students. CVCC also offers
tips concerning the characteristics of successful distance education students,
online degree programs, technical requirements for enrollment, and Blackboard
support. To access this information and more, go to the
distance education website.
Senior citizens
Educational benefits for senior citizens are provided under the VA Senior
Citizens Higher Education Act of 1974 and amendments. Eligible senior citizens
may enroll in credit classes for audit without charge. To be eligible for this
benefit, the following criteria must be met: 60 years of age or older before
the beginning of the term for which enrollment is sought, a legal resident of
Virginia for one year preceding enrollment, and taxable Federal income not
exceeding $15,000. There is a charge for enrollment in non-credit classes.
Transfer students
Transfer students from other colleges are welcome at CVCC and should complete
the regular admissions process. Assessment testing may be waived for transfer
students providing official transcripts with a grade of C or higher in math
and/or English. To obtain a degree from CVCC, 25% of the credits applied to the
program must be taken from CVCC. Please refer to the college catalog for a
detailed explanation of graduation policy.
