About the Bedford Center

CVCC, in partnership with the Bedford Industrial Development Authority, renovated approximately 12,500 square feet of facilities in the shell building located at 1633 Venture Boulevard (Bedford Center for Business). The center opened for classes in January 2005.

In January 2005, Central Virginia Community College began offering classes to the residents of the City and County of Bedford at a new, state-of-the-art facility in the Bedford Center for Business. These classes marked the culmination of years of planning and organizing between CVCC, the Joint Bedford Economic Development Authority, the Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce and countless industry and civic leaders of the community.

In the first semester of 2005, over 100 students enrolled despite a very low-profile opening. In the fall of 2005, over 270 are in attendance in 30 classes at the Bedford Center. This fall, CVCC has increased course offerings to over 55 courses in response to what is predicted to be a continuing increase in demand for college classes in Bedford.

CVCC’s Bedford Center is not limited to just holding college classes. The Bedford Center offers financial aid and degree counseling. The facility also has placement testing to assist students determine their skill levels in math and english – over 40 students have already taken advantage of this service.

One of the assets of CVCC’s Bedford Center is the Community Meeting Room. This room, when set, classroom style, seats up to 100 people and is internet-ready for technology-based presentations for conferences and seminars. The Bedford Center can accommodate meal functions and coffee breaks, as well as provide break-out rooms as needed for conferences.

Through strong customer service in Bedford and superior support services from their Main Campus in Lynchburg, the CVCC Bedford Center is poised to aggressively serve the educational needs of Bedford’s residents and businesses.
