Free College Financial Aid Assistance Offered During Super FAFSA Week 2014

 

Central Virginia Community College (CVCC), 3506 Wards Road, Lynchburg, VA will host a Super FAFSA Week event February 3 Ė 6 and February 8, 2014. Students may drop in anytime between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday thru Thursday for help completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).† On Saturday the event will take place from 10 a.m. to noon and will include a financial aid presentation and lunch. Individuals should RSVP for the event by calling the CVCC Financial Aid Office at 434-832-7814.

 

Super FAFSA Week, formerly known as Super Saturday, is sponsored by the Virginia Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (VASFAA) where individuals seeking funding for a 2-year or 4-year college for Fall 2014 or Spring 2015 receive free, one-on-one assistance completing the FAFSA. The FAFSA is the form used by colleges, universities, and career-technical schools across the country to determine eligibility for student federal and state financial aid.† When the student leaves this event, he or she will have initiated the financial aid process for any college they are interested in attending.

 

To complete the FAFSA, students will need to bring the documents listed below for themselves and their parents (if the student is a dependent) and spouse (if the student is married).

         U.S. Department of Education Personal Identification Number (PIN) for you and your parent. Students and parents can save time and apply for a PIN in advance at www.pin.ed.gov. They may also get a PIN in real time when they fill out the online FAFSA.

         Social Security Number. It is important that you enter your Social Security Number correctly!

         Driverís license or state issued photo I.D.

         2013 W-2 forms and other records of earned income

         2013 Federal Income Tax Return (if not available, bring most recent return for estimate)

         2013 familyís untaxed income records such as Social Security, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, Welfare or Veterans benefits

         Current bank statements

         Current investment records such as business and investment mortgage information, business and farm records, stocks, and bonds.

         Alien registration card (if not a U.S. citizen)

 

As an incentive for attending a Super FAFSA Week session, students will have a chance to win a $100 book scholarship to be used at the winnerís college of choice during the 2014-15 academic year.
