Emily McCarty awarded NB Handy Commonwealth Legacy Scholarship

 

 

Lynchburg, VA /Media Release/11/28/11 – Emily McCarty of Madison Heights has been awarded the NB Handy Commonwealth Legacy Scholarship by the Virginia Foundation for Community College Education.

 

She attended the awards ceremony held at the Boar’s Head Inn in Charlottesville on November 15, 2011 where Glenn DuBois, Chancellor for the Virginia Community College System, presented her with a $2000.00 scholarship.

 

Emily was homeschooled in Amherst County and is currently pursuing a general studies degree at CVCC, where she has maintained a 4.0 GPA, despite facing some challenging medical obstacles. She enjoys helping others and is particularly involved in local church activities. Her educational goals include pursuing a bachelor’s degree in intercultural studies.
