CVCC Receives Dominion Foundation Award
Lynchburg, VA /Media Release/10/21/10 Central Virginia Community College has received a $25,000 award from The Dominion Foundation, a philanthropic arm of Dominion Resources. The award will be used to add robotic welding to the Colleges current welding program. Classes will be developed and taught on robotic welding technology that will include extensive hands-on training both in the classroom and lab.
The Dominion Foundation has awarded $500,000 in grants to colleges and community colleges in the state. Grants range from $10,000 to $40,000 and support programs in business, skilled craft, engineering environmental and technical studies, and for student-led conservation programs.
William C. Hall Jr., a vice president of Dominion and president of The Dominion Foundation explains, We see the importance in funding and cultivating the innovative studies that are happening at our colleges and universities and their potential for the future.
Dominion is one of the nations largest producers and transporters of energy.
