CVCC Hosts Technology Fair on May 14th
Lynchburg, VA /Media Release/ -- On Friday, May 14, Central Virginia Community College will host its annual Technology Fair for area high school students.
The CAD and portfolio competitions of this years fair have already taken place on May 6th. Fridays final competitions, held on the CVCC campus, will feature individual and group displays, models, and team engineering competitions. Over a hundred students from ten area high schools will compete, including teams from Appomattox, Bedford, Campbell County, and Lynchburg.
Fridays competitions include bridge building, trebuchet (building a floating arm device that can launch an egg), live challenge competitions where teams are given a problem to be solved on the spot, and the very popular VEX Robotics Competition. The goal of the VEX competition is to move a tennis ball successfully--by robot, or in this case, soccerbot--across the opponents playing field and into the goal zone.
Lunch and an award ceremony follow the competitions, and cash prizes will be awarded to winning teams.
The displays, models, bridges, trebuchets, and VEX Robotic Competition will be on display in the Multipurpose Room in CVCCs Merritt Hall from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The Live Competition will take place in front of Merritt Hall, during that time.
