CVCC Communication Design Department Hosts Art Fair 2010
Lynchburg, VA /Media Release/3/31/10 Central Virginia Community Colleges Communication Design department will host its annual Art Fair on Friday, April 2, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. The event gives high school junior and senior art students in the area an opportunity to meet each other and to participate in team competitions to create sidewalk chalk drawings on the CVCC campus walkways and concrete areas. They will also enter art work in juried shows for cash prizes. The artwork, including drawings, paintings, three-dimensional art, photography and graphics, will be displayed in the multipurpose room of Merritt Hall.
Each sidewalk chalk drawing will be 8 ft x 8 ft and will express the theme Hybrid Animals in an Environment. The chalk drawings will be underway from 9:30 am to 11:00 am, with an awards ceremony held between 11:15 am and Noon.
Participants will include art students from Altavista, Amherst, Appomattox, Brookville, E. C. Glass, Jefferson Forest, Liberty, Rustburg, Staunton River, and William Campbell.
During the awards ceremony, one school will be presented with a trophy for best in show. The imaginative and colorful drawings become an exciting feature of the campus for the day, and the participants will be introduced to the art programs at CVCC during a day of creative competition and camaraderie.
