Blues Musician K.J. James to Perform at CVCC

Lynchburg, VA /Media Release/ -- Central Virginia Community College’s African-American History Month is celebrated through the acoustic blues tradition of the popular K.J. James.  James will appear on stage in the Student Center of CVCC from noon to 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 26.

James has become a college standard appearing in more than 200 shows per annum on college campuses, clubs, coffee houses, and festivals.  He is a five-time nominee for the National Association for Campus Activities Entertainer-of-the-Year. He was a main stage performer in the opening act of Woodstock ’99 and was given high regards for his contributions to the Salt City Blues project on Blue Wave Recordings.

James is noted for his deep baritone voice and fluid finger-picking that place him among the modern greats of classical country blues.  As an entertainer, James combines mastery of the guitar with a dynamic vocal performance offset by a genuine sense of humor that all together make him a campus favorite.

James’ visit to CVCC is sponsored by the College’s Office of Student Activities.
