CVCC Offers Certificate Program for Career in Armed and Unarmed Security

Classes to Begin February 24, 2007

 

Altavista, VA /Media Release/ -- The CVCC Altavista Center is enrolling students interested in earning a certificate as a prerequisite for registration with the Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) Private Security Section.  Students successfully completing the program are qualified to apply in the Commonwealth of Virginia as required by the DCJS for special security career opportunities.  Classes will begin Saturday, February 24, in room 104 of the CVCC Altavista Center located at 701 Fifth Street in Altavista.

 

The Private Criminal Justice Professional Career Studies Certificate provides job opportunities in areas that include armed and unarmed security, private investigation, and bail bonds and bail enforcement.  This is a 16 credit-hour, seven course program that encompasses both classroom and practical instruction.  Training areas include criminal and property law, firearms, investigative techniques, fugitive apprehension, first aid, etc.

 

Students must be able to pass a background investigation in order to receive DCJS Registration which will be required prior to employment.

 

This is a certification program in compliance with the regulations of the DCJS.
