Central Virginia Community College
Longwood and CVCC Sign Transfer Agreement
Qualified CVCC Business Students to Enter Longwood as Juniors
Lynchburg, Va. /Media Release/ -- Longwood University’s College of Business & Economics (CBE) is offering graduates of the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) a new opportunity for transferring seamlessly into the business administration and economics degree programs at Longwood.
Starting with the transfer agreement signed on July 10 with Central Virginia Community College (CVCC) students can earn admission into Longwood’s business administration or economics degree program while earning their Associate of Arts and Science degree at the community college. Prior to this agreement, transfer students earned admission into the business administration and economics programs after they transferred to Longwood.
“This agreement between Longwood University’s College of Business and Economics and Central Virginia Community College allows students to transfer into Longwood’s College of Business and Economics as juniors and be on equal footing with juniors who began their degree at Longwood,” said Dr. James Cross, dean of Longwood’s College of Business and Economics.
Will Sandidge, Dean of Business and Allied Health at CVCC adds, “The guaranteed admission agreement between CVCC and Longwood’s CBE provides a smooth transition for our students transferring into Longwood’s business and economics degree programs. This is a great opportunity for our students”.
Under the guaranteed admission agreement signed in 1991 and renewed last year, Virginia Community College graduates who earn the Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, or Associate of Arts and Sciences degree with a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher are guaranteed admission to Longwood University, though they are not guaranteed entrance into the College of Business and Economics. Students who pursue transfer under this new agreement will have guaranteed admission to the College of Business and Economics as well.
“A number of our graduates in transfer programs choose Longwood for their bachelor’s degree, and we look forward to seeing that increase through this new agreement with Longwood’s College of Business and Economics.” said Judy Graves, Counselor for Business and Allied Health.
Longwood’s College of Business & Economics is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International).
