Computer Use Policy
Access to computers and electronic resources
Computers in the library are intended to provide access to the library
catalog, electronic library resources, the Internet and Microsoft Office
applications. They may be used to search for information, research term
paper topics, explore interests and use applications already loaded.
Access to computers and electronic resources in the library is open to
everyone with a valid CVCC library card. All users must agree to abide by
the "CVCC Information Technology Acceptable Use Policy"
(Page 132 of Catalog and Student Handbook) and all student conduct
guidelines in the Catalog and Student Handbook of Central Virginia
Community College.
Remote access to the library’s electronic resources is available to CVCC
faculty, staff, and students registered for any credit or non-credit
course at CVCC, including compressed video, synchronous or asynchronous
learning courses. For directions click here.
Computer time sign-up
The sign-up book for computer time is at the circulation desk. Users
may sign up for thirty minutes at one time and may sign up for more
time if there is no one waiting. E-mail or Internet relay chat which is
not course-related is limited to thirty minutes per day.
Users who have not signed up may have to give up their computers to
someone who has signed up.
The Internet
The Internet is available on all computers in the library. Users must sign up for computer time on any of these computers. Documents printed from the Internet are $.05 per page with the first five pages free. There is no charge for blank sheets or pages with only a header.
