Position: Full-time nine-month teaching position. Rank and salary are dependent upon academic qualifications and experience. Appointment is subject to availability of funding.
Qualifications: Position requires a minimum of a Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester hours in Engineering and 18 graduate semester hours equivalent in Mathematics preferred. Ph.D. preferred. Interest and experience in computer assisted instruction highly desirable. The candidate will be expected to primarily teach Engineering courses including: Statics, Dynamics. Materials and Thermodynamics. Candidate may be expected to teach Mathematics, as needed. This person must have an ability to work effectively with a culturally and educationally diverse student population. Prior teaching experience preferred. College teaching experience is helpful.
Duties: Teach 15 credit hours (day, evening, and / or weekends) per semester and maintain 10 hours of office time per week. Perform other duties such as committee assignments and student advising.
The College: Located in Lynchburg, Virginia, in view of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Central Virginia Community College is a comprehensive two-year institution of higher education. Approximately 4,000 students are enrolled in occupation / technical programs and university-parallel transfer programs. The college is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award the Associate degree.
