Available Virginia Tobacco Commission Scholarships
- Traditional Tobacco Family Scholarship -
Applicants for Traditional Tobacco Family Scholarships must be an allotment/quota holder identified on the U.S. Department of Agriculture list and/or their immediate family members.
The purpose of the CVCC Traditional Tobacco Family Scholarship is to provide tuition assistance to certain persons who are now or were formerly associated with the tobacco industry. Eligibility is limited to residents of the Virginia tobacco region who were either:
- A tobacco grower, producer, or quota owner in Virginia at any time from 1998 to 2004 according to USDA Farm Service Agency records, or the spouse, child (natural or adopted), step-child, grandchild, step-grandchild, son-in-law, daughter-in-law or direct descendent thereof, or;
- A former employee of the tobacco processing industry in Virginia as evidenced by pay stubs or tax returns issued by such employers.
*A resident of the Virginia tobacco region is defined as a person who is a domiciliary resident of Virginia under Code of Virginia §23-7.4 and presents documents showing the applicant’s name and physical address within the region (as defined by the Commission).
Students will also be required to provide one of the following as proof of eligibility:
- Form 156EZ or MQ24 obtained from the USDA Farm Service Agency
- Documentation of former employment in the Virginia tobacco processing industry
- Certification of familial relationship to eligible grower, producer, or quota owner (birth certificate or other documentation of relationship).
- Veterans Tobacco Scholarship -
Applicants for this scholarship must:
- Be honorably or medically discharged
- Enrolled in an approved program of study
- Enrolled for the first semester at CVCC
- Using VA educational benefits other than Post 9-11
- Not be eligible for military tuition assistance
Eligibility is limited to residents of the Virginia tobacco region of Appomattox, Bedford and Campbell counties.
- STEM-H Tobacco Scholarship -
Applicants for this scholarship must:
- Be enrolled in a science, technology, engineering, mathematics or health sciences program of study at CVCC.
Eligibility is limited to residents of the Virginia tobacco region of Appomattox, Bedford and Campbell counties.
- Finish Line Tobacco Scholarship -
Applicants for this scholarship must:
- Be enrolled in an approved program of study
- Be within 15-credit hours of completing an associate’s degree
- Have a current admission application on file at CVCC.
Eligibility is limited to residents of the Virginia tobacco region of Appomattox, Bedford and Campbell counties.
