CVCC/UVA Engineering Partnership
Central Virginia Community College and the University of Virginia, in
cooperation with Region 2000 businesses, formed a partnership which
provides a four-year engineering degree within Region 2000. CVCC
established an Associate of Science in Engineering curriculum
that satisfies The University of Virginia's (UVA's) and Virginia
Tech's (VT's) prerequisites for third-year entry into their
respective Schools of Engineering. While some students choose to
attend third- and fourth-year classes on UVA or VT campuses, UVA
makes its curriculum available within the Lynchburg area. This means
Region 2000 students need not leave home to earn a respected UVA
engineering degree. The degree offering is Engineering Science, an
interdisciplinary study with two tracks: mechatronics and advanced
materials.
