CVCC Campus in Summer

CVCC/UVA Engineering Partnership

Central Virginia Community College and the University of Virginia, in cooperation with Region 2000 businesses, formed a partnership which provides a four-year engineering degree within Region 2000. CVCC established an Associate of Science in Engineering curriculum that satisfies The University of Virginia's (UVA's) and Virginia Tech's (VT's) prerequisites for third-year entry into their respective Schools of Engineering. While some students choose to attend third- and fourth-year classes on UVA or VT campuses, UVA makes its curriculum available within the Lynchburg area. This means Region 2000 students need not leave home to earn a respected UVA engineering degree. The degree offering is Engineering Science, an interdisciplinary study with two tracks: mechatronics and advanced materials.

Step #1:   Apply for admission to Central Virginia Community College. Web applications may be found
at: https://apply.vccs.edu/app/app.htm. Use curriculum code #831

Step #2:   Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form at:
http://www.fafsa.ed.gov

Step #3:   Send all high school and prior college work sent to CVCC, Office of Records and Admissions.
All applicants will be required to complete math placement testing, unless a definitive ability
to complete a calculus level mathematics course is demonstrate in prior college work. (All
first time students are required to complete Mathematics and English placement)

Step #4:   Schedule an appointment with our counselor, Marc Zoccola, to discuss class options
and registration.

Marc Zoccola , 434-832-7804, zoccolam@cvcc.vccs.edu

Step #5:   Preview companies in Region 2000 interested in sponsoring potential engineering
students in this program. Sponsorships may include: Tuition assistance, books, fees, co-op
opportunities, part-time jobs, and/or full time careers with the company. A complete list of
points of contacts and application procedures for each participating company will be posted
on the CVCC web site (www.cvcc.vccs.edu) in early May.
